Floating

At approximately 9:30pm Sunday Dec 11th, a fire occurred in the basement of Don Valley Bible Chapel. The fire department responded promptly to the building alarm and extinguished the fire. The Toronto China Bible Church members who had just completed their evening program were all able to exit the building and all personnel are safe. The damages appear confined to the property.

The fire destroyed the old kitchen in the basement. As a result there is extensive water and smoke damage throughout the building. The building is therefore closed to all public access except for designated staff and repair crew. Investigations are underway by the appropriate authorities to determine the cause which is still undetermined.  Some repair work is already in progress and may provide limited access to the upper level. The lower level, including the Large Kitchen and Gym, are inaccessible until the restoration work is completed.  The current estimate for resuming any operations normally carried out in the basement space is approximately July 1st 2012. This may change as repairs proceed however from a planning perspective this is the date we all need to work with.

All our Leaders are working diligently on alternative plans.  Communication and regular updates will be released as available.  All Don Valley Bible Chapel communication will be handled by Matt and Carlton.
